New Year’s Blogging Resolutions

If I’d been sufficiently organised I would have had my resolutions for 2016, blog-related and otherwise, all ready to go by the time the fireworks died away on January 1st.  Sadly, as you’ll probably have gathered if you visit Girl, Reading regularly, forward planning isn’t always one of my strong points, particularly when it comes to blogging.  So, in keeping with tradition, here are my new year’s blogging resolutions – 3 days late…

  1. Appropriately enough, my first resolution is to plan ahead! Up until now the blog has been a very spur of the moment thing for me, but I’m sensing a blogging diary might be the way to go.
  2. Stop agonising over the number of page views and followers I have – easier said than done this one, as no-one can deny it’s a bit disheartening to put a lot of effort into a blog only to find it’s not being read by as many people as you’d hoped. It’s also hard not to play the comparison game and measure your stats against those of other bloggers.  But for me, the whole issue of performance anxiety around my blog has, on occasion, taken some of the joy out of writing, and I don’t want that to happen this year.
  3. Read more! When it comes to getting through all the books I want to read there’s no time to waste – so no more idling!  Endless reruns of The Big Bang Theory are going off and the reading lamp is going on.

That’s it – my three resolutions (I never like to be overambitious after all).  Let’s see how many I can stick to over the coming year.

A big thank you by the way to everyone who’s been reading my blog during 2015 – I hope to see you back again in 2016.  Happy New Year!
